Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

Arrival
  • The gate will be opened to allow student on campus at 9:00am daily.
  • Supervision is not available prior to 9:00am. Students arriving prior to this time are encouraged to join the morning YMCA (see below). 
  • Car drop-off for all students is located at the cafeteria gate at the front of the school.
  • Students should not enter the school through the front office unless they are turning in an attendance note. 
  • Students should only exit the vehicle in the far right lane (closest to the school).
  • Please put your cell phones down while dropping off your student. 
  • Pull forward as far as possible, even past the gate. This allows more cars to unload at the same time. 
  • Please avoid dropping your student off in the street. This is not a safe practice.
  • Walking and biking students should always cross at the crosswalk for safety.
  • Students are expected to walk skateboards, bikes, scooters, etc once on campus.
  • Skateboards and bikes should be secured within one of the two designated bike racks (one at the front and one at the back of the school). The school is not responsible for lost or stolen property.
  • Bus riders arrive at school in the bus loop at the back of the school.

  • We do expect significant bus delays to occur on a regular basis as there continues to be a shortage of bus drivers. 

Dismissal
  • Car pick-up for all students is located at the front of the school.
  • All car riders must wait for their ride in the area outside of the cafeteria gate. 
  • Students should only enter their vehicle in the far right lane (closest to the school).
  • Supervision by school staff is not available after 4:30pm, and any student still waiting for their ride this time will be directed to the afternoon YMCA.
  • Walking and biking students should leave campus immediately.
  • Please avoid picking your student off in the street. This is not a safe practice.
  • Walking and biking students should always cross at the crosswalk for safety.
  • Students are expected to walk their bikes and skateboards until they are off-campus.
Early Pickup

If a student needs to be picked up early from school (e.g. doctor's appt), it must be no later than 30 minutes before school dismissal. This is 3:34pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday and 2:24pm on Wednesday. Special arrangements will be made in case of emergencies.

Bus riders 
We expect significant delays with busing. Please Note: OCPS Transportation is not an entity of Maitland Middle School. 
YMCA We encourage all families to sign their student up for the YMCA: click here to sign up for the YMCA. All clubs, after-school tutoring, and activities, with the exception of competitive sports, will be run through the YMCA. Your student must be signed up in order to participate. YMCA is offered from 7:00 – 9:00 am daily for those students who need to arrive early, and from 4:00 - 6:00 pm in the afternoon. Check-in for the YMCA takes place in the Cafeteria.
