Principal's Message

Welcome to Maitland Middle School!

Aski-Melik Brown, Principal
Greetings Golden Hawks,

It is with great pride and excitement that I introduce myself to you as the new principal of Maitland Middle School! I come into this position with a clear knowledge and understanding of how extraordinary our school is, because of the unwavering commitment to our students and their success. With that being said, it is our focus here at MMS to ensure every student has a promising and successful future. With the support of our families and the community, we will create enriching and diverse pathways to lead our students to success.

I began my career in OCPS in 2002, with alternative education at Community Education Partners. I served as a paraprofessional, then resource teacher for 6 years. I then moved to Osceola County where I served as an English Language Arts teacher and an academic/administrative dean, at Liberty High School. I returned to OCPS in 2014 and took on the role as testing coordinator at Wekiva High School. For the last 5 years, I’ve served as an assistant principal, starting at Maitland Middle School, Union Park Middle School, and Dr. Phillips High School. This is a full circle moment for me, as MMS holds my heart. I am truly humbled and honored to serve as your principal.

I would not be here without the support of my family. I have an incredible wife and two amazing sons that keep me youthful and grounded. My family is my world. I am a UCF graduate, Charge On! I enjoy learning new things, exercising, relaxing at the beach, working in my yard, and singing.

At MMS, it is our focus to be innovative, inclusive, maintain respect, serve with equity and integrity as we collaborate to provide our scholars with the opportunity to become the best version of themselves as lifelong learners and productive citizens.

As the instructional leader of our school, I believe being involved is vital to our core business, teaching and learning. It will take our parents, teachers, support staff, school administration, and our school community working together to provide our students with the tools to be successful. It takes a village to raise a child. Let us continue to be that village for our scholars.

I look forward to doing amazing things in this new season at Maitland Middle where we are soaring to new heights.

Sincerely,
Mr. Brown
Principal
