• Maitland first opened in the fall of 1959.
• Maitland’s front office used to be in what is now the back parking lot. At the time, the address was 1901 Choctaw Trail. After the construction, when the front office was moved to it’s current location, the school’s address was changed to 701 N Thistle Lane.
• Maitand’s yearbook is called the TANDELHI. This comes from: “T” as in Talon, “AND” as in MaitlAND, “EL” as in ELementary, and “HI” as in Junior HIgh. What is now Maitland Middle School was previously Maitland Junior High, and it was part of the same campus as Maitand Elementary School, which is now Dommerich Elementary.
